Hunter Education is only the start to being safe in the woods and on the lake, its also passing down the tradition of hunting and staying safe with firearms.
Gary's sayings!
1. You owe it to yourself and the animals you hunt to be proficient with whatever method you are using.
2. Anything you take away from you better give back to, or there won't be any left for the next generation to enjoy.
3. PASS IT DOWN, TAKE SOMEONE HUNTING AND WATCH THEIR EYES LIGHT UP!

Tips for finding downed deer. If you get a bad shoot on the animal like a gut shot, go back the next day if possible.
Take a bearing of the last place you seen or heard the deer with a compass, things look different on the ground than in your stand.
Use toilet paper to mark blood as you find it to mark direction the deer is running.
In the fall not sure if that red is fall color or blood? Keep a small bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide in your pouch, if it's blood it will bubble up, works on even week old dry blood.
